In 1973, Burger King begun to take an offensive strategy against McDonald's. Hamburg, Through the investigation, we found that there was a shortcoming of McDonald's, which is, their hamburger machine is automated, but is not flexible enough to deal with accidents and special things. We criticized it and made a marketing campaign with them, the name of which is called "Have it your way".
We thought that we should pay more attention on the variety tastes of our guests, we focus on how to satisfy different tastes of our guests. We used the slogan "I choose my taste" during the campaign, it was a huge success, we also use it today. Later, we launched different campaigns in 1982, like the "fire roast instead of frying" and "burger war".
We made an advertisement to let our guests know about our strengths. We even notified that around 2 million guests had turned to Burger King after watching the advertisement. The result shows us that the campaigns were good choices, the offensive battle improved our income, expanded our market share, we made a huge success.
We would like to say that the offensive strategy was the key to our success. Inside the offensive strategy, the most important thing is to find out the leader's power in customers' mind. McDonald's realized that the fast service is what inside customers’ mind, to provide fast service, it needs to use automated machine to produce burgers, that is our weakness. We chose a non-standardized approach, which called, "I choose my taste".
